TRIIM trial dose
A reminder to my Drawing Buddies that we are off this Wednesday, Nov. 13th and will draw NEXT Wednesday, Nov. 20th when Chloe will be the model. Don’t miss it!
Looking ahead to December, I may again draw on the first and third Wednesdays as Christmas falls on the fourth Wednesday. So, that will be the 4th and the 18th of December.

See you then!

It has been a very long time since I have offered a Drawing Fundamentals Class. One begins on September 16th and runs for six consecutive Monday evenings from 6 – 9 pm.
Adults – $150, College Students – $125, High School Students – $100.
Supplies required: 18 x 24 inch pad of newsprint, Rough or Smooth. Six “Ebony Pencils.”

Essentially it is a Beginning Drawing Class, however, the material I present and the deliberate and sequential way it is presented will benefit the person picking up a drawing pencil for the first time as well as those who have been drawing for a while and want to do a little remediation. If you feel that what you learned in school was inadequately taught or understood and you want to fill in the gaps, this class is for you. The material can be handled in as sophisticated a manner as each student’s skills allow.
Everyone will be challenged. This is not, “How to draw Bambi” in three easy steps! That is formulaic copying and teaches nothing about perception which is at the heart of drawing. Drawing is about seeing. Moving the pencil is the easy part.

Please pass this info along to anyone you know who has a serious interest in learning how to draw or wants to build on what they already know. Of particular interest to me are high school  and college students who would greatly benefit from material they probably won’t get in school.

This six week course is actually Part 1. I once taught a 10 or 12 week course, but, that was a commitment that few could make. So, I divided the material in half and present one, two and three point perspective, and, light/shadow structure and inherent values in another 6 week session.

If interested, please contact me here at Tholepin or at compufool13@aol.com.

Thanks!
See you soon.

LET’S DRAW!!

Life Drawing Group

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Rather than meeting every Wednesday, our Drawing Group will meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. However, this schedule will change at times, particularly as we navigate the holidays.

A reminder that the Life Drawing Group DOES NOT meet today, October 31st. However, we WILL meet next week on November 7th. I know that the 7th isn’t a 2nd or 4th Wednesday, but, I didn’t realize when I designated the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, that this would occasionally leave us without drawing for three Wednesdays in a row sometimes. Drawing back-to-back Wednesdays once in a while is more preferable than this. In the month of November we will draw on the 7th, 14th and the 28th. Such scheduling aberrations make it important that I have your email address so I can keep people posted.

Thanks to Kaylah who modeled for us last week. She did a great job and hopefully will return soon. Thanks to Jake, Marcie and Margaret… new artists who joined us for the first time last week.

The incomparable Chloe has an opening in her busy schedule and will be modeling for us on the 7th. I hope you will be able to join us.

Be safe out there as you trick and treat. Have your parents check your haul and pace yourself. Don’t eat it all in one sitting.

See you soon.

Tholepin Press and Studios at 210 Elm Street, Toledo OH was recently the recipient of some of the late Carolyn Autry Elloian’s printmaking equipment including inks, brushes, felts, acids, grounds, rosin, etc.
…BUT,  most especially her new aquatint box.

Carolyn Autry's Aquatint Box

Carolyn’s meticulous aquatints are PERFECTION!! The aquatint box was made by the Polymetaal Co. in the Netherlands and is a wonderful addition to our shop. For those of you who were students of Mr. Elloian’s and knew his amazing wife, I don’t have to explain to you what an honor this is. For those of you who never had the cherished experience, no explanation is adequate. Master Printmakers and Master People of the highest order.
I am most grateful to Mr. Peter Elloian for his cosiderable generosity! It will be put to great use, and, thoughts and ispiration of the Elloians will be ever present.
