  • Life Drawing Delayed
  • Life Drawing Buddies, our drawing sessions on the 2nd and 4th of each month are suspended for the time being. There just hasn’t been sufficient attendance during the pandemic to sustain it. I may be having a session on November 10th to accommodate a request from Jason Sanderson and his students at Bedford H.S. I’ll let everyone know when that is confirmed if you want to attend. Thanks.   • Hi Drawing Buddies! I’ve set March 10th as the date the model ascends the stand once again and we get back to Life drawing on a regular basis at Tholepin Studios. All current virus protocols will remain in place for the foreseeable future. We wear masks so our models don’t need to. It’s been a long time coming and I am very much looking forward to seeing familiar faces. I know that some will not feel comfortable returning for some time, yet. I understand. But, we need to start somewhere. Fortunately we can indulge our passion while keeping ourselves and others safe. You will notice that we have new and very bright lighting all along Summit St. Thanks to all who extended sympathies for my dear cat Esme. It means a lot to me. She is really missed! Mark your calendars, kids, and check your drawing tool box. We are back at it on March 10th!! See you soon! Paul Geiger

  • Did I apologize for having another male model last week? I did. What was I thinking!! Brandon was fantastic. AMAZING poses all night. Held perfectly! It was a great night. We are off this Wednesday, but, return next Wednesday, the 24th, and have Chloe to look forward to. ———————- I know, like many of you, I am still trying to take in the loss of Notre Dame. One of the paintings that is believed to have been lost in the fire is this “Visitation” by Jouvenet. His gorgeous “Deposition” at our wonderful museum has kept many of us fascinated and challenged at our Friday drawing classes. Great sadness. Find meaning in the Easter holiday and I look forward to seeing you next Wednesday!

Dear Life Drawing Group, my apologies for the repeated delays in restarting our Life Drawing sessions. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond my control require that I delay things longer still. I appreciate your patience. Stay tuned.

Dear Drawing Group,

Rather than meeting every Wednesday, our Drawing Group will meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. However, this schedule will change at times, particularly as we navigate the holidays.

A reminder that the Life Drawing Group DOES NOT meet today, October 31st. However, we WILL meet next week on November 7th. I know that the 7th isn’t a 2nd or 4th Wednesday, but, I didn’t realize when I designated the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, that this would occasionally leave us without drawing for three Wednesdays in a row sometimes. Drawing back-to-back Wednesdays once in a while is more preferable than this. In the month of November we will draw on the 7th, 14th and the 28th. Such scheduling aberrations make it important that I have your email address so I can keep people posted.

Thanks to Kaylah who modeled for us last week. She did a great job and hopefully will return soon. Thanks to Jake, Marcie and Margaret… new artists who joined us for the first time last week.

The incomparable Chloe has an opening in her busy schedule and will be modeling for us on the 7th. I hope you will be able to join us.

Be safe out there as you trick and treat. Have your parents check your haul and pace yourself. Don’t eat it all in one sitting.

Carolyn Autry's Aquatint Box

 

Carolyn’s meticulous aquatints are PERFECTION!! The aquatint box was made by the Polymetaal Co. in the Netherlands and is a wonderful addition to our shop. For those of you who were students of Mr. Elloian’s and knew his amazing wife, I don’t have to explain to you what an honor this is. For those of you who never had the cherished experience, no explanation is adequate. Master Printmakers and Master People of the highest order.

I am most grateful to Mr. Peter Elloian for his cosiderable generosity! It will be put to great use, and, thoughts and ispiration of the Elloians will be ever present.
